First of all, the great thing about Tom Thumb is that it's a Safeway company, and grocery deals will be the same nationwide! So if you are not from the Dallas area, you can still get the same deals that I post if you have a Safeway (or other Safeway stores) around you.

1. Get a Reward Card. You can sign up for one at the customer service desk (which will instantly start to work) or you can go online and have one mailed to you.
2. Know the coupon policy. Here are the highlights of Tom Thumb's coupon policy:
- They will accept "BOGOF" coupons, but they will not accept coupons for free products. This means if you have a coupon for a free box of Excedrin, they will not take it. This is likely because of the high amount of fraud on those coupons.

-They will not accept Printable Coupons for more than 50% of a product's value. For example, a $2 off coupon will be acceptable for a product that sells for $5 or more, but a $2 off Printable Coupon for a product that sells for $2.25 will not be accepted. If there are exceptions, they are usually provided an advance notice by the applicable manufacturer upon which they will pass the appropriate savings, if any, onto you.
In the DFW area, coupons worth .39c or less will triple face amount, and coupons worth .50c or less will double face amount. However, only one-like coupon will be doubled/tripled in the same transaction.
{i.e. I want to buy 3 boxes of Granola bars. I have a .40c off coupon for each box. The first will ring as .40c + .40c store matching (.80c total), the second will be .40c, and the third will be .40c}
*Remember that it never hurts to keep store policies with you on all shopping trips just in case you run into a problem.*

3. Load eCoupons for more savings. Tom Thumb allows four different types of eCoupons, that load directly to your reward card! Sign up for Shortcuts, Cellfire, P&GeSaver, and Tom Thumb eCoupons. See how eCoupons work here.

4. Know the weekly ads. Tom Thumb's weekly ads begin on Wednesday and end the following Tuesday. There are usually store coupons in the weekly ads, but they have restrictions. Some have a $10 minimum purchase before you are able to get the lower coupon price, (and this does not include the coupon products) some have 'Must buy x' in order to get the lower price, and others have 'limit x' so that you are only allowed to buy so many at that price. These store coupons are allowed to be 'stacked' with manufacturers coupons.

-They will usually not accept coupons for more than about 75% of a product's value. For example, a $2 off coupon will be acceptable for a product that normally sells for $5 or more, but a $2 off printable coupon for a product that sells for $2.25 is unlikely to be legitimate. If there are exceptions, we are usually provided advance notice by the manufacturer.

You may want to split up transactions in order to get the best price in a situation like above.

4. Know the weekly ads. Kroger's weekly ads begin on Wednesday and end the following Tuesday. Kroger often runs different promotions where you can mix and match participating items to get instant savings on your bill. You can also earn fuel points to get .10c off per gallon when you buy certain products, which will total at the end of your receipt, or you can check your balance online.

1. No Reward Card Needed. In Texas, Albertsons LLC did away with a loyalty card a few years back, which has it's pros and cons. The good thing is that you automatically get the sale prices without needing a card. However, there will never be any type of perks to frequent shopping and no eCoupons can be used here.
2. Know the coupon policy. Here are the highlights of Albertson's coupon policy:
